Posted: 25 Jul 2021 07:22 AM PDT This, my friends, is a sappy, all-feels tribute to you.Bodyweight fitness has literally turned my perceptions of fitness on it's biased little head. I've been at it for a year and a half now and the benefits I've realized weren't even the ones I was after. I used to do almost exclusively cardio, but my knees couldn't handle running anymore. Add single parenting and working full time I didn't think there was a second to carve out time in my day. Well not true. No slogging the kids to the gym, just hammer it out at home before dinner. Or in the morning on weekends. Just a pull up bar, some rings, and a medicine ball. I'm stronger, I'm maintaining weight into my almost 4th decade, I can lift, carry, shovel 3 CY of gravel and generally do physical labor safely. Mentally I feel a hundred times better after a workout. I've been healthier, less illnesses and better blood work. I used to be sick all the time, even when I was a runner. I started because I wanted to look a certain way, and wanted to maintain weight. It's so much more than that now. Thanks to this community and the RR!! Y'all are my heros. [link] [comments]
Dip alternatives for injured wrist Posted: 25 Jul 2021 02:11 AM PDT Hey y'all, I've been following the RR on and off for the last year and a half. Because of a motorcycle injury, my right wrist is in fairly constant pain from movements under tension, especially twisting (like even my water bottle cap). I need to get into a doctor to see if there is anything to be done of course, but the off part of doing the RR happens revolving around dips. I can basically do everything else in the RR (push up handles for pushups), pullups, ring rows, bicep curls, and tricep extensions are all fine. I can even do static holds on the bars (always with a wrist wrap) but i just can't seem to keep my right wrist locked when i go for full dips. I could be dipping too low, but this round of starting the routine back up again I'm not even messing with dips because messing up that wrist is what knocks out the rest of my routine. Aside from seeing a doctor which is on the table already, are there any alternatives or variations for dips i can do without putting much or any stress on this thing? Thanks [link] [comments]
(25M) (92KG at 5'11) I need an intermediate to advanced workout plan. Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:29 AM PDT Have been training on and off for 3 years now but I've made little progress, I'm starting to workout from home completely as relying on external factors isn't beneficial with the Covid resurging and disappearing from time to time in waves. I have a 20 KB, a pull up bar (can't do a single unassisted pull up), and a few resistance bands for now; moderately fit could count as average (as I can majorly do 100 KB swings and side to side push ups, but I'm planning to move to something substantial and make some smart progress. Goals: To feel fit and obviously for aesthetics (lower belly fat is something I've always struggled with since as long as I can remember) [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Jul 2021 07:04 AM PDT I've been trying to not be skinny fat for the past year but I honestly just think I've become more fat and not put on any muscle and I'm still weirdly skinny in certain places. This is how I looked about 8 months ago 8 months ago This is how I looked today Today I was lifting for about an hour 4 days a week along side walking my dog 2.5 to 3 miles everyday but I no longer was able to do due that because of time and I also wasn't making any major progress. The past month or so I've been lifting for 30 mins 4 days a week and the I do 20-28 mins of running on the treadmill everyday expect Sunday. I only have about an hour or a little more than that to exercise on the days I lift Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sat and then about 30-40 mins on days I don't lift to get some exercise in. I'm really not sure what I should do to start actually changing my Body in a positive and put on some muscle. I eat about 2300-2400 calories a day(I no longer track but I did for almost a year so I can ball park). I'm also pretty inactive outside of the exercise I do hence why I'm doing cardio daily. Any advice on what I should be doing would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Rounded shoulders, scapular wingning, scoliosis, etc.... Please Read This :D Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:43 PM PDT Hello ... Good morning to everyone here. I am here to ask for some help and advice if possible regarding this issue of winged scapulae and rounded shoulders. And well my case is the following: I have both winged scapulae, the left winged but let's say that in a better position than the right, which is winged with the lower and middle part more outwards and with the right shoulder on this side fallen towards forward and with an impingement that began at the time months ago as tendinitis from overstressing myself doing a stretch, it should be noted that said right scapula is also fallen. I also have moderate scoliosis in C, and finally I have an imbalance in the middle of the body, that is, I have my whole right side much larger and more worked than the left, and how does it do? I was resting for months because by then I had pain in my shoulder and scapula, and I had to stop doing anything training, I am currently doing a routine based on different things that I have collected there, to stretch my entire upper and middle back, shoulders, pecs and general posture improvement, and doing impromptu face pulls with a blanket full of books, one or two basic exercises for Ahtlean X winged scapulae, and trying to improve the shoulder with a rubber band, working external rotators. But I have noticed that I have a small consistent pain in my right scapula, in the rhomboid area, and it is sometimes difficult for me to stretch there, every day the scapula thunders loudly, and when I am stretching the pectorals major or minor , on my right side I cannot stretch well because the shoulder intervenes a lot and I get tired from the impingement I suppose, when I do some exercise or something and I place myself in good posture, while my left scapula is better placed, the right one is rounded forward and I have to make more effort backwards to reposition it, which I cannot do correctly, the same when doing some exercise or something, it should be noted that when I stretch the area feels relaxed but it still thunders, and within a day or less time returns the small pain between the middle area of the right scapula. What do you recommend me to do? I have faith that I am going to heal, it is a fact that I have gotten into my head as they have no idea. But I also have to do my part and in addition to trusting in the process, work for it and achieve it, so ... What do they tell me? Or what advice do you give me? I wait a bit to treat the imbalance and I continue with the stretching and such? Or what? I await your answer, greetings !!!! PS: Do not recommend me to go to a specialist please, I am in Venezuela and currently it is not very easy, since it is too EXPENSIVE, and too complicated with this government and situation to get a good doctor specialized correctly in these areas as in any other country, And there are no chiropractors, so xD, and I have already gone to a few, and they have not been of much help, if you need a photo to see more exactly what I have, please do not hesitate to ask for it, thanks in advance, greetings! ! (Sorry for so much text). [link] [comments]
