Sunday Show Off - Because it's perfectly fine to admit you're also doing bodyweight fitness to do cool tricks in front of people!

    Posted: 13 Mar 2021 08:38 PM PST

    HEY YOU,

Have you taken any recent pics of those sweet gains, your human flag, or those handstands off the wall you're finally holding?

Do you have other bodyweight fitness accomplishments you've made and want the world to know about because your friends and family can't appreciate how hard L-sit progressions are??

This is the thread for you to share all that and inspire others at the same time! I'm talking about another S-S-SU-SUNDAY SHOW OFF!!

Note that we aren't limiting you to what we're discussing on the FAQ. Show us anything that blew your mind the moment you realized you had it. This may include aspects of: gymnastics, climbing, parkour, weight loss/gain, posture, etc. They are all more than welcome in this thread.

We also want to remind you that we've been sharing your content on @redditbwf on both Instagram and Twitter. Help us grow our sub's social media in order to reach out to non-Redditors across these other platforms!

Beginners who didn't start with the RR, critique your own routines

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 08:46 AM PDT

This post is targeted to beginners who got started with calisthenics, but, were either unaware of the Recommended Routine (this sub) or maybe chose not to do the RR.

What was your starting routine? What were your stats when you started? And what benefits did your starting routine bring for you? What is your status now?

P.S. - This need not be an anti RR discussion. Many people started off with their own routines and may have later moved onto RR. Let's keep the discussion healthy and constructive.

From tuck to straddle planche in 6 months realistic?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 10:38 AM PDT

Hello there r/bodyweightfitness. I'm a 26 year old 5'11 158 ish lbs man. Currently, my ultimate goal is to achieve the full planche in the next 2 years. For that I have set short term goals, one of them is to achieve the straddle planche in the next 6 months. I'm wondering if that seems a realistic goal for someone my height, weight strength and thin legs.

I have somewhat mediocre strength. I can hold a one leg FL for about 5 seconds (with OK form, I haven't really trained for it), pull ups with bw+45lbs, 75% bw barbell ohp strict and can do 10 seconds planche leans with hands at almost waist level.

I'm currently doing a ppl routine, I train skills on leg days. My planche training is: pike pull throughs on rings, 4 sets of planche leans for 10 secs each, 4x10 Zanetti press hollow body, 4 sets tuck planche holds till failure, rto support hold for elbow and shoulder "conditioning".

Also, will training planche on rings be beneficial? I find it easier to do the holds on rings than on pbars. On pbars, holding a tuck planche is very uncomfortable, on rings I can easily hold a tuck and lower into an advanced tuck for a couple of seconds while keeping elbows locked out and protraction; I think the height of my pbars have something to do with it but idk.

Help with upper body program for wheelchair user?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 10:10 AM PDT

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me modify one of the standard workout programs in the wiki to fit my needs. I am a wheelchair user, so I already put a lot of strain on my shoulders, specifically in the forward-pushing motion. I'm hoping to maximize maintaining shoulder health, as well as generally build upper body strength. I have full upper body function, but don't need leg stuff. Can I just skip the leg days and replace with e.g. handcycle cardio or something? Also, which exercises should I omit or add to address my shoulder usage? Thanks!
