Posted: 18 Oct 2020 07:09 AM PDT I realise this is a very open question because some exercises are harder than eachother and people are coming from different experience levels. But if enough people comment it should give enough variety in the answers. For example, there are like 7 progressions to a planche I think. Were you ever surprised at how fast you could advance from step 2 to step 5 for example? How long did it take? I'm asking because I'm a beginner in body weight training and I want to make a video doing some moves in my basement for my current module at art school. I can't do many exercises that visually look that cool yet apart from L-sit chin ups and L-Sit to dip on parallel bars. I have about 3 or 4 weeks before I need to shoot this video. In the run up to that I don't really have any other commitments so I can just train really hard in my basement. If other people tell me their experience levels and progressions they've made, then maybe I can use that to plan what to focus on, what is achievable for me. [link] [comments]
From 4 to 8 pullups...out of the blue Posted: 17 Oct 2020 05:30 PM PDT Hello bwf, I started doing bw training about 7 month ago, I was severely overweight, probably just getting into the obesity range. Lost about 40 pounds and now I gained 5 pounds because I took care of my grandma for a few weeks (and we all know grandmas cook a lot and want you to eat). I used to have an issue with pullups, I felt a nerve in my right arm moving and it did hurt a bit. But during that time with grandma I found out the issue was that I had my elbows pointing foward. So I went through a "relearn" face of the pullup. Where I did them slow and controlled. Now its been about 2 weeks, im on weightloss again and havent lost much (about 2 pounds more or less) still got a long way to go. (Im about 20% bodyfat i believe). I could only do about 4 pullups max. (Im proud of it because I coudnt even do one at the begining.) And out of the blue. Today I could do 8 Fairly easy. What the hell its going on?. I didn't expect that at all. I was doing rep after rep expecting the failure yet no. I did 8 but I felt a few more in the tank, yet I was losing form and I didnt want that. Bwf, did this ever happened to you? [link] [comments]
Mental part about Calisthenics Posted: 17 Oct 2020 02:51 PM PDT Hello everyone. I wanted to share my problem with you and hope that you can give me a solution.Everytime after my workout i go back and analyze what have i done and I am not happy with it.I feel like i could have done more reps or sets. This evening this problem came to my mind after an hour of working out i got onto the bars but i couldnt do another rep.I am so frustrated because i think I am leaving a lot of gainz on the table.Did anyone of you share the same experience with me and how you got over it. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Oct 2020 11:43 AM PDT I've been stuck on 3 sets of 20 secs for my L-Sit (on the floor) duration for 6+ months. On the odd occasion it sill feel good and I'll manage 30 seconds but for the vast majority of the time 20/22 seconds is what I manage and that's tough to achieve. Can anyone point me at suggestions for breaking this plateau? [link] [comments]
Finding indoor gyms with the right set of equipment? Posted: 18 Oct 2020 08:25 AM PDT Hey all, I have a question: how do you generally go about finding gyms that have all the right equipment to support progressing through calisthenics workouts? Given that the winter is coming in the northern hemisphere and outdoor calisthenics locations will soon become unusable, I thought it might be useful to start a discussion about this. Gyms in areas with consistent low-spread have been reopening with safety restrictions and reserved time slots. This is great, I've found that having a facility with the right equipment greatly increases the quality of workouts and any workout planning (over trying to work out at home). For example: not having to fiddle with a door possibly coming off its hinges during nordic curls, or not worrying about rings that are too low or too close to the ceiling to properly work the entire range of motion without weird form futzing. However, I've tried Googling left and right but can't seem to get anywhere with actually finding gyms WITH the right equipment – things I've tried: looking for apartment rentals with gymnastics equipment in them, or some sort of site that can filter gyms down by available equipment. Google maps isn't smart enough to give good results on a maps query with "gym with stall bars" or "gymnastics gyms" or "calisthenics gyms". For me, I live between cities in the NE and can't drill into the walls in short-term rentals, so setting up my own rig isn't possible. For example, when I'm in New York it has been difficult to even find any place with what I consider to be two really crucial pieces of equipment: stall bars and rings (if you can think of one, please share!). Not even climbing gyms, which I had expect to be tailored to bodyweight style exercising, seem to have them, and circus gyms seem to have gone under :(. The only amazing space I've found has a small footprint and is open to use only during private coaching sessions with a trainer. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Oct 2020 11:31 AM PDT Hey guys, I am male 18, 128 lbs, 5"10. Im very skinny and have been trying to become more fit so I've been using dumbbells and eating more. I had a question about the area between my bicep/tricep and my shoulder. My bicep looks regular but that area is very skinny for me. And it's only on my left arm not on my right arm which looks regular. How can I increase mass in this area? Thanks [link] [comments]
