    So proud of my little brother!

    So my (28m) little brother (21m) has always been afraid to want to workout, because he's afraid he'll look dumb. I told him "When we all start, we all kinda look dumb in a way. That's the reality. The only way to fix that is repetition."

    Today was his first day working out! I told him before lifting heavier he has to make sure his form and motion are in check. So we worked out back and biceps and lifted light so we can start with his posture and form. I'm proud because he got through the whole 1 hour workout. We limited his back exercises, because he does have some back problems, but he did so well! I'm really proud he actually wanted to workout and got through it! I really hope he wants to continue, because I want him to live a healthy lifestyle. He's been a really skinny guy, but he wants to change that about him.

    But anyways I just wanted to share my workout story for today! Thanks for taking the time to read this!

    PS: If there's any advice/tips you can give to him about starting off I'd be happy to relay it to him!

    How do I make working out fun for someone who literally hates it?

    Hi all! So, pretty straightforward & as the title says, I'm trying to make working out fun for my (25 F) SO (30M). I've always been really health conscious and have always loved working out. It makes me feel so good, the kind of high that we all chase after.

    I've been with my partner a couple of years now & he's complained EVERY DAY about his body and how he wants to change it for the better. He's gained about 50-60 lbs since we began dating (i do love me some huskiness) BUT, I mean, being 50 lbs overweight and at the age we are... we need be serious about preliminary actions for our health. I don't want him to have a stroke or heart attack in a couple years, ya know?

    Around Christmas, he got really serious for a month and dropped 10 lbs and finally gain a bit of a bicep. But then one day, we visited his parents, they noticed the changes and he just stopped seriously working out with me since then. I have literally pulled the yoga mats out in front of the TV while he is watching and try to get him to work out & he'd just, "eh maybe I'll give it 5 minutes...." or go upstairs to F off. (Which is another thing, he thinks a 5-10 minute at home work out is going to erase the ice cream he eats every night)

    I have NO clue how to keep pushing him now. I've tried doing our own workouts, following fun YouTube videos, telling him to of course take his time, create strength in form, researched easier work outs to compromise for his "weak knees and back", hell, I've even drawn out different work outs, put them in a bag and said, "let's pick at least 10 and we will do those!" Try and make it a fun game, ya know?

    But with all that, he still loses interest. Still complains daily about his "spare tire" and health. But will not do anything about it?

    TL;DR— I love working out, boyfriend does NOT. How do I motivate him?

    Looking out for a (kind of) serious answer to a silly question

    Hello there,

    I have been quite inconsistent in my workout journey but still managed to gain som strength (I couldn't do a single close push-up before and now can do 3 sets of 8 with decent form).

    I am looking for a full body routine to oblige myself to keep training without pause for X silly reason

    As far as I am aware, consistency is key. Whatever program you might choose, even the CC approach, if you stay focus on a good training for a long time with a fairly good diet, you might get results.

    In that regard, what do you think about a daily full body program with a variety of exercises (let's say the big 6), with only set close to failure ?

    Explanation: I mostly train with Kettlebells (Turkish Get Up, Swings and I might do a bit of Clean and Press) and BW (close push ups, one legged squat progression and rows). I think that this approach might stay "funny" enough to keep me entertained for a long time, but I question the volume and intensity of such routine.

    Training with hEDS?

    Im 19 M, just got into training for the first time. My main focus right now is the abdominal/core region. I have hypermobile EDS which from what I understand means my joints are much more susceptible to injury than the average person. If anyone else here has EDS or has expertise on it, I would appreciate any tips, do's or don'ts for resistance training with hEDS. thanks :D

    Perspective on how close I am to achieving an iron cross

    Question for the elites of this subreddit who can iron cross, this may sound dumb but I'm trying to see how close I am to achieving a cross

    Here's what I'm capable of doing now :

    L sit to handstand push up back to L sit on parallel bars

    10 clean ring dips

    1 minute L sit hold on rings

    10 clean ring dips

    5 second human flag

    3 ring muscle ups 15 ring pull ups

    So far I can only hold the cross at just less than 45 degrees (maybe 35). Am I close or do I still have a long way to go?

    Workout for day to day life?

    young male, looking for workout for a skinny dude.

    I'd like a workout that works against daily routines such as house shores, sitting at desk for too long for my back & posture because I need to, keeping my resilience & my ability to bear that one long day without being ruined for days after.

    I don't know if there's such workout but nobody will be hurt if i ask :D

    How long to learn OAPU?

    I am able to pull up 65% of my body weight and my training plan is supposed to get me up to 85% in 6 more weeks. How long would it take me to do a OAPU after that?

    I'm 125 lbs and 5 foot 7 in case you need to know

    Pike push up form check

    Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me do a form check on my pike push-ups. The program that I'm following (Tao Physique's beginner calisthenics routine) has pike push-ups as the first variation for vertical push movements, and says to do it in sets of 5-15 reps for 40-70 reps total, but it feels uncomfortable on my shoulders and I can't even get to one set of 5. Is this just a strength issue or bad form? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Gains

    I've been training for around 4 months now. I've never been fat but I've always had a small layer on me that made me look a little soft. I've been doing calisthenics and have gained good strength. I can do okayish clean muscle ups and good push ups, but my body hasn't really changed all that much. I'm 15. I will leave a link to a photo of my body so I could get some tips from you. I don't eat junk food and I eat pretty good although my diet could be better. I workout every single day and I feel like I do know a lot about calisthenics and strength training in general. here is what my body looks like right now

    Should I treat Dips and Pike Pushups as the same kind of excercise?

    I mean they both consist in a vertical push pattern, the main difference being the angle at wich the arms work, so I was wondering if they were as closely related to each other as pull-ups and chin-ups are.

    Those of you who are unable to do pullups inside your house, how has your progression been?

    For a while I've had a pull up bar which I infrequently use. But now I'm sure the door frames in my house aren't strong enough to support me (or anyone) doing pullups.

    Where I live it's very frequently cold and snowy (like right now), so I can't go to the park to do pull-ups without a few layers.

    For those of you in a similar situation, how have you progressed and worked around being unable to do exercises done with a pull-up bar?

    Back planche?

    Is there a variant of planche where your face up as opposed to face down? And if there isnt, why not? I mean we have a front and back lever and just about every other postion.

    Why are the RR sections coupled this way?

    Ok maybe (surely) it's a really stupid question but what is the reason behind the RR coupling? I understand the core triplet as they are all core but why for example pull-up and squats are done together? Is there a real reason or it's just for convenience?

    My weighted pull ups need help

    TL;DR I'm getting confused with how to progress and would like to know: what are your effective methods for progressing in weighted pull-ups, or what should I change?

    For around 4 months I've been training rather consistently for the very first time. During this time when I trained my pull ups (pronated) I started the first month with 3 sets of 8 (bodyweight), 3 mins rest in between sets. I was stuck here and changed my approach with a 5x5 routine with 3 min rest in between sets and when I was able to reach 2 mins rest in between sets I increased the weight. At first there was linear progress going from 5lbs weighted to 20lbs, but plateaued here with 3 mins rest in between sets.
    So I went back to a 3x8 routine rather recently, and noticed a carry over from my initial 5x5 being able to do 4x8 (2min rest). Similar to the approach in the RR, I did my pullups in a 3x8 fashion starting from 5lbs and recently climbing up the reps with 3x6 10lbs.
    But after a while I hold a lot of doubt if what I'm doing is correct. So I'd like to know how you guys progressed in your weighted pulls, especially if you've been doing really well. (any other suggestions are very much welcomed)

    Background (in case you want to know):
    140lbs, ~5'7 in height, M. I consider myself a beginner since this is the most consistent I've been ever, but I was able to do 14 pullups max beforehand but due to very inconsistent training back then. What makes my doubts rise a lot is how the linear progress in my dips are doing better than my pulls (my dips are currently in 25lbs 3x6 and I'm confident in reaching 30lbs 3x8 in around a month)

    I’m having a really hard time!!!

    I'm a 17 year old male who weighs 215 pounds and I'm in the beginning of my fitness and weight loss journey I recently came across an article online where it says long term weight loss is impossible and nothing has ever bummed me out so bad in my life it made me lose all motivation I searched all over the internet for reassurance but I just came across more articles backing up the claim that real weight loss is impossible and I would love to get you guys opinions I'm tired of being chubby and feeling unhealthy I want to be fit and strong and progress by putting in more and more hard work so can anyone help me out by giving me your opinion?
