Posted: 28 Nov 2020 09:56 AM PST I Just want to hear If there are any success Stories about Guys bulking while doing Calisthenics. It seems so counterintuitive. You get heavier and so you can do less Reps (pull ups...). Gyms are closed and i d Like to build some muscle but is that really possible as an intermediate lifter changing to BW fitness? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:54 PM PST Hello, I am looking for some advice on buying a weighted vest to add to my workout. I think I have reached the point in my training where I need to add increased resistance to my basic pulling and pushing exercises. I know that, as a whole, this subreddit is not a big fan of weighted vests and tends to recommend dip belts/plates; however, for those who have experience with vests in the past I would love recommendations. I have narrowed my preferences down to something that is of high-quality and either short, or slim to allow for as much ROM as possible. Price is not a major factor as I am excited to make this purchase and view it as something that I will ultimately get plenty of utility from. My reasons for preferring a vest are as follows: 1) The weighted vest allows one to add weight to a greater number of movements than just pullups + dips, which will be useful in the long-term 2) I work out at a park and it is much easier to transport a vest than a dip belt + multiple plates 3) I do not own any barbells/plates to begin with and buying high-quality plates is not materially cheaper than buying a high-quality weighted vest (which is often cited as one of the main reasons to avoid vests) What I am struggling with is selecting my weighted vest. I have effectively narrowed it down to three options, but am also open to any other suggestions: 1) Hyperwear Vest Elite: https://www.hyperwear.com/product/weighted-vest/ a. Pros: Seems to be extremely good quality, allows for high mobility with minimal restriction, adjustable weight increments b. Cons: Only goes up to 20lbs 2) V-Force Basketball Vest: https://weightvest.com/product/40-lb-v-force-basketball-weight-ves/ (spoke with a rep from Weightvest.com who explained that the basketball model allows for the most mobility) a. Pros: Good quality, narrow profile for a vest of its size, adjustable weight increments b. Cons: (basketball weight vest model goes up to 40 lbs – far more than I need right now, but 5-10lbs less than other "short vest models"), not quite as "low profile" as the Hyperwear, a bit more difficult to adjust fit while on 3) Box Weight Vest: https://weightvest.com/product/45-lb-box-weight-vest/ a. Pros: Good quality, goes up to 45-50lbs (among the best for a short weight vest), strap makes it easily adjustable, adjustable weight increments b. Cons: A bit more restrictive seeming than either of the two options above Thank you very much! If there is another forum that would be more appropriate for posting this question please let me know. Conflicting evidence regarding best Abs exercise Posted: 28 Nov 2020 08:17 AM PST I'm trying to figure out the most efficient abs workout according to science. Two studies keep showing up: ACE study from 2001 and another ACE study from 2014 HOWEVER, their conclusions are completely different: 2001: Bicycle Crunch is the best exercise 2014: No exercise is better than Conventional Crunch Huh? Question 1: Why such contradiction between the studies? Question 2: What IS the best abs exercise according to science right now? [link] [comments] |

Anyone uses ankle weigh for planche training ? Posted: 28 Nov 2020 10:06 AM PST Ok so I have my full planche on p-bars. I am able to full planche press. Posted: 28 Nov 2020 12:02 PM PST I'm trying to get from 225 to 175. I'm 36 and 5'8". I started this self-created program about a week ago. I'm going to Planet Fitness five days a week. I would like some feed back on what I'm doing, if I'm doing the right thing, and any suggestions for what to change. The goal is to lose weight and look cut, not add muscle mass or anything. Every day I start by walking a 20-min mile on the treadmill with 0 incline. Tuesdays and Thursdays are cardio days where I do the mile, then 10 mins on recumbent bike, 10 mins in upright bike, and 10 mins on elliptical. My weights days are (everything is 3 sets of 12 with 30 second rest): Monday (Shoulders, Back, Chest) Pec Fly - 40 lbs (machine) Rear Delt - 40 (machine) Lat Pulldown - 60 (machine) Shoulder Press - 20 (machine) Seated Row - 30 (machine) Chest Press - 30 (machine) DB Side Shoulder Lift - 10 DB Front Shoulder Lift - 10 DB Flies - 15 DB Press - 15 Wednesday (Legs, Abs, Lower Back) Leg Extension - 30 (machine) Leg Press - 80 (machine) Calf Extension - 40 (machine) Leg Curls - 30 (machine) Back-Ups Side-Ups Sit-Ups Ab Crunch - 30 (machine) Back Extension - 60 (machine) Friday (Biceps & Triceps) DB Curls - 15 DB Tricep Extensions - 15 Biceps Curl - 40 (machine) Tricep Press - 60 (machine) Arm Curl - 30 (machine) Tricep Extension - 50 (machine) Bar Curl - 30 (weight bar) Rope Tricep Extension - 30 (pulley) Finally, food wise I'm consuming <250 calories for breakfast, <550 for lunch, and between 800-1200 calories for dinner. Any help is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
What do you think about Nucleus overload Posted: 28 Nov 2020 07:16 AM PST Hello, what do you think about the principle of nucleus overload. The principle is quit simple. One part of the factor for hypertrophy is volume. So the idea is to take a lagging muscle group (for exemple a pushing movement) and make an easy progression with a good amount of volume in addition to the regular schedules. (The progression should not be too hard to give the nervous system enough recovery). The hypertrophy will not be greater during this period but after a week of rest, coming back to the regular training, the hypertrophy will be far greater according to what a lot of people trying it report. It is a kind of overreaching. Have you ever tried it? What are your feedback? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Nov 2020 04:55 AM PST I did crossfit for 8 months or so and i need a good calisthenics workout routine ( i cant make one on my own without the knowledge) cuz gyms are closed and i have only a pull up bar and a dip bar , no more equipment. I've tried the Recommended routine and it feels like it is not enough with the equipment ive got. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:36 PM PST Is it okay to workout in a gym that's mainly for weightlifting? Do gyms like that have a calisthenics routine plan? [link] [comments] |
Kensui Weight vest harder than dipping belt Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:47 PM PST as the title says, this vest is harder than the dipping belt. I can do 90x7 on dip belt weighted pullups. This vest I can do 70x6ish, Why so much harder to use a vest over a dipping belt? [link] [comments] |
