| I died once and am desperate to start living again! Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:46 PM PDT In 2018 I had a blood clot travel to my heart and it stopped beating for 4.5 minutes and caused a stroke. I lost the use of my left arm among other things. Doctors discovered I had an 85% blockage despite having "perfect good and bad" cholesterol. They believed it was due to having type 1 diabetes and a family history of narrowed arteries. I was advised to have surgery which I did, unsuccessfully. Anyway I went from no meds to a 4 daily. I'm gaining weight like crazy. Which is a side effect of two of my meds. On top of that I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism this year. I'm buried in info on diets that may help with weight loss but for me getting energy back is far more important. I have spoken to my doctor and got little advice. I've spoken to a nutritionist and they showed me the food pyramid and talked about portion sizes which I'm very familiar with already. I really need help. I would appreciate any advice, books, websites or ideas on nutrition. I'm desperate to feel just ok at this point. [link] [comments] |
